The Florida panther once roamed throughout the southeastern United States. Today, they are confined to only 5% of their historic range here in southwest Florida. The Florida Panther National Wildlife Refuge provides essential habitat for these ghost cats, but more needs to be done to restore their population.

Many people report seeing panthers to us, and yet, most of the time, the animal in question is a bobcat.

 

We want to be sure you know who to report a panther sighting to so you can get a definitive answer.

If you think you saw a Florida panther, you can report it to the FWC by clicking this link.

 

We understand that our website address (floridapanther.org) might cause you to think we are the FWC.  We are mighty humbled if that is the case. We are also mighty humbled if you think we are panther experts.
